Jimmy Buffett Concert Tour

More shows have been added to Jimmy Buffett’s calendar as the leader of the Parrotheads gets ready to release a new live album that teams him with Alan Jackson and George Strait.

Buffett will start things off March 24 with an island party in the Caribbean territory of Anguilla. In late April, he’ll launch a US trek (ticket broker | Jimmy Buffett tickets), which so far has the singer/songwriter playing a few shows per month in June, July and September, ending with a double-header at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. The itinerary is included below.

April 3 will see the release of “Live at Texas Stadium,” which captures Buffett’s May 2004 concert with Jackson and Strait at the Dallas venue. The show brought the three superstars to one stage for the first time, and features them performing some of their biggest hits alone and together. Buffett’s Mailboat Records website is currently taking pre-orders for the CD.

Buffett released his latest studio album, “Take the Weather With You,” in October. The set returns the performer to his country foundation, as evidenced by his version of Merle Haggard’s “Silver Wings” and interpretations of alt-country songs.

“Without realizing it, I went to my roots on this record,” Buffett said in a statement. “It’s not a stretch for me to do country music.”

The project also gave the singer a chance to fulfill his dream of working with Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler, who wrote and guests on the song “Whoop De Doo.” Other guest artists on the record include British band Gomez, steel guitarist Doyle Grisham and Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro.

Buffett’s previous studio set, 2004’s “License to Chill,” is a collection of country/pop duets that earned him his first No. 1 record.

In his spare time, Buffett has been busy raising money for charity. He recently teamed with Sports Illustrated and 20 of the mag’s swimsuit models to sign and auction off a guitar on eBay. The event reportedly raised $42,100 for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Habitat for Humanity Musicians’ Village.

Buffett also worked with the swimsuit models on his latest video, “Getting the Picture,” a preview of which is streaming at his website.
